A wide-leg trouser in cotton denim canvas, printed with camouflage and cut with a corded panel across the knee.
The corded knee is borrowed from motorcycle trousers, where the ribbing exists for a reason: it lets the fabric concertina as the leg bends instead of pulling tight across the kneecap. On a canvas this heavy that is the whole difference between a trouser you can sit down in comfortably and one that bags out permanently at the knee within a month.
Two deep pleats on each side of the front waist release into the leg, so the width comes from the waistband rather than from cutting the leg straight and wide. It hangs instead of standing away from you.
Cut long, wide enough that the hem gathers on the floor behind the foot. The model is 5 foot 8 wearing a size S.
Slash and patch pockets at the front, patch pockets at the back. Sizes S to XL. One thing to be honest about - this is a deliberately long, wide leg. Under about 5 foot 6 you will want them shortened.

- Machine wash cold, inside out. Washing a printed canvas face-out abrades the print against the drum
- Wash separately for the first few cycles - dark canvas gives up dye
- Do not bleach
- Line dry or tumble dry low. A hot dryer shrinks cotton canvas in the leg length before anywhere else
- Warm iron if needed, avoiding the corded knee panel - pressing the cord flat removes the give that panel exists for
