Cotton is the whole argument for this one. Most lightweight zip jackets in this shape are made from a synthetic shell because it is cheaper and holds a press - and it also means the jacket does not breathe, so you overheat the moment you go indoors and take it straight back off. Cotton moves air. That is what makes this the layer you keep on through a day rather than one you carry.

The zip runs the full length, so it works closed as a jacket or open over a t-shirt as a shirt-jacket.

The cut is regular with reinforced seams at the stress points. Sizes run S to 3XL.

The washed finish means it arrives looking worn rather than new, and it will keep going in that direction. If you want a jacket that stays crisp, this is not it - that softening is the point.

Materials & Care

Cotton, with a washed finish. Zip closure. The supplier states cotton as the material and lists no filling — this is an unlined jacket, not an insulated one. Machine wash cold, zip closed. An open zip abrades the fabric it lies against in the drum. Wash separately for the first few cycles — washed-finish cotton gives up loose dye. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low or line dry. A hot dryer shrinks cotton in the body length first. Warm iron if needed. The washed finish is meant to look soft, so there is no need to press it sharp.

Fit & Sizing

UK sizing, measured by chest. These are the supplier's own figures. S — chest 38-40 in M — chest 40-42 in L — chest 42-44 in XL — chest 44-46 in 2XL — chest 46-48 in 3XL — chest 50-52 in Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms, with the tape level and a shirt on. TWO THINGS WORTH KNOWING: There is a gap between 2XL and 3XL. 2XL stops at 48 in and 3XL starts at 50 in, so nothing in this range fits a 48-50 in chest properly. If that is you, take the 3XL — a jacket you can close is better than one you cannot. The sizes overlap by an inch at each step (M is 40-42, L is 42-44). If you land exactly on a boundary, size up: this is cut with room to go over a t-shirt or a light jumper, and the cotton relaxes with wear rather than stretching out. Shipping & Returns

30 day returns. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel your order, and we extend this to 30 days for any unused item in its original condition. We refund the price of the item plus the standard outbound delivery charge within 14 days of receiving the return.

Return postage is paid by you unless the item is faulty, damaged or not as described, in which case we cover it. Nothing here affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
