The lining is the point. Brushed fleece runs the full length of the leg, not a panel that stops at the knee — which makes this a genuine winter trouser rather than a slightly thicker autumn one. The drawstring waist is why these get worn more than tailored trousers do. There is no fixed waistband to size against and no zip, so the fit forgives a large lunch and a long day in a way a button never has.
Cut with enough length to break over a trainer or sit flat over a boot. The wale is fine rather than deep, so the corduroy reads as texture across a room instead of as a statement.
A full lining adds bulk, worth saying plainly. These are warm and relaxed, not sharp. If you want a trouser that holds a crease, this is the wrong one.
