A straight-cut winter coat in brushed, textured fabric, falling to mid-thigh and fastening on a single row of buttons.
The collar is what earns its keep. A notch lapel this size can be worn flat and open, which keeps the coat looking tailored over jeans, or turned up and closed across the throat when the wind picks up. Most coats at this price have a collar that only does one of those two things.
The cut is straight rather than fitted, so it hangs from the shoulder instead of pulling at the waist, and the mid-thigh length covers the hips without catching behind the knee when you walk.
Honest note: the fabric has a matte, brushed finish rather than a hard tailored face, and the fastening is buttons only. It is a cold-day coat, not a waterproof one.
